As an Asset Planning Officer within the Roads Infrastructure team, you’ll play a key role in managing and maintaining Council’s civil assets. From proactive inspections and restoration projects to technical advice and stakeholder engagement, this role offers variety, impact, and the chance to make a real difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and proactive inspections of civil infrastructure in road reserves and public domains
  • Record asset condition and inventory using Council’s management systems
  • Provide technical advice and approvals for public domain works and vehicular crossings
  • Manage restoration activities for damaged assets caused by utilities, contractors, and developers
  • Support capital works handover inspections and contribute to long-term asset planning
  • Liaise with internal teams, developers, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and quality outcomes
  • Assist in developing annual maintenance and renewal programs aligned with Council’s asset strategy
About You
  • You’ll bring a strong foundation in civil engineering and a proactive approach to asset management. Your ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and work collaboratively will be key to your success.
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or significant experience in asset inspection/management
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience (degree), 4 years (diploma), or 6+ years (experience-based)
  • Strong communication, customer service, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and asset management systems
Desirable:
  • Local government experience
  • Familiarity with Pathway, Content Manager, TechOne
