Join a leading Sydney council and play an important role in supporting the digitisation and management of council records. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and experience in information or records management to contribute to a large-scale digitisation project.

About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor, EDM Systems, the Digital Records Officer will be responsible for the ongoing digitisation of Council’s hard copy and paper-based files. You’ll ensure digital conversion activities meet Council’s business, quality, and legislative requirements while supporting day-to-day records management operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, scan and convert hard copy files to electronic format in accordance with Council standards and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor image quality and perform quality assurance checks throughout the digitisation process.
  • Maintain accurate file locations and update Council’s electronic document management system (CM9).
  • Cull, box and relocate hard copy files before and after digitisation.
  • Use barcode scanners to track file movements and maintain accurate metadata.
  • Support day-to-day operations of the Records Management team as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Council’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and records retention obligations.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a records or information management environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured, repetitive processes accurately.
  • Sound computer literacy and familiarity with a range of software applications.
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of the NSW State Records Act 1998 and relevant digitisation and disposal authorities (GA45, GA39).
  • Experience with Kodak scanning applications or similar imaging software.
  • Previous experience working in local government or a large, complex organisation.
