About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network and Safety Officer to support critical traffic and road safety functions within a high-performing team. In this role, you will arrange and conduct traffic and safety investigations, complete technical assessments, and develop practical, effective solutions to road safety and network management challenges.
You will also represent the organisation on Council Traffic and Development Committees, providing expert technical advice to support good decision-making and positive outcomes for the community. This position is fully accountable for the quality, integrity and validity of all advice provided.

Key Accountabilities
  • Undertake traffic, safety and land-use development investigations, audits and technical assessments to identify options that address network issues.
  • Conduct site, road length, speed zone, signposting and delineation investigations, and arrange minor upgrade works where applicable.
  • Provide specialist advice during proposal and project development stages.
  • Implement network management procedures and contribute to local quality audits and reviews of statewide processes.
  • Deliver high-level technical advice to internal stakeholders and to councils through Traffic and Development Committees.
  • Provide timely, well-considered responses to customer and stakeholder enquiries.
  • Apply project management techniques to plan and deliver allocated tasks, ensuring program delivery targets are met.
  • Work collaboratively across precincts to support a consistent approach to network and safety management across traffic, speed, guidance and delineation functions.
  • Operate within a flexible, dynamic, community-focused environment, challenging norms and contributing to innovative solutions.
Key Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching colleagues, supporting capability development in technical investigations and solution design.
  • Strong understanding of network management policies, guidelines, technical directions and procedures.
  • Proven ability to conduct road and traffic safety investigations, complete audits and technical assessments, and develop solutions to complex network management problems.
Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Traffic Engineering or a related discipline, and/or equivalent experience in a related field.
