The Organisation & The Role:

Our client is a Tier-1 Financial Institution in Australia with a well established 'three lines of defence' and risk & compliance structure. This unique role functions as an 'Engineer' for standards improvement, QA and governance for their 2LoD Risk Assurance Division. 


Your Responsibilities:

  • Re-define and continuously improve the quality standards of 2nd Line Risk Assurance, across SOX Prudential, Operational Risk, Compliance and Project domains in line with regulatory change and evolving risk management practice.
  • Re-engineer the 2nd Line Risk Assurance processes, lead and drive the development of methodologies , training and quality framework.
  • Put thoughts on the table, set an assurance plan, decide on the priorities, implement the plan, challenge ideas and pitch back to senior level.
  • Act as a 'Project Manager' , lead and coordinate annual assurance testing and any transformation initiatives, such as Analytics & Automation strategies.
  • Perform independent reviews and evaluations along the 'change' process, continuously challenge the status quo.
  • Maintain updates to Risk and Compliance Assurance Manual, ensuring tools and methods are fit for purpose
  • Hold accountable for stakeholder relationships cross the 3 lines of defence up to Head-of level, in ensuring all parties exercise their responsibility in enhancing risk frameworks and rolling out
  • Continuously identify trends, and common practices adopted by peer industry players
 
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Services (open to assurance, risk & compliance, quality assurance, practice management, process optimisation, project management backgrounds).
  • Update to date knowledge of emerging risks in the current Banking & Financial Services industry.
  • Demonstrable ability to standarise and optimise controls effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills (have confidence, influencing and partnering skills with the leadership team).
  • Ability to help business leaders to land on practical solutions that are ‘fit for purpose’ for the Risk Assurance Plan.
  • Outstanding project coordination skills to successfully plan, roll out and drive change & transformation in a Tier-1 financial institution who is complex in architecture.
  • Experience writing governance reports to senior management.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable (eg. CA, CISA, CIA, FRM, MBA).
  • Skills of using visualization tools, data analytics (Tableau, Power BI, Clickview etc.) would be a plus.
