Are you a strategic thinker with deep internal audit or risk expertise and a passion for driving growth in the public sector? Our client, a top-tier professional services firm, is seeking an accomplished Internal Audit & Risk Partner to lead and expand its
Government & Public Sector Assurance Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide strategic leadership to the internal audit function across Federal, State and Local government clients.
- Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy to grow the public sector audit portfolio.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across government bodies and public institutions.
- Lead high-impact assurance, risk management, and advisory engagements aligned with public sector priorities.
- Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing audit teams, ensuring a strong culture of integrity and service excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., advisory, digital, ESG) to deliver innovative, value-adding solutions to clients.
- Represent the firm at industry events, public forums, and regulatory engagements.

Essential Skills & Experience:

- Proven experience at Director or Partner level in internal audit or risk assurance, with significant exposure to the public sector.
- Strong track record in business development, including identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and winning new work.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal / State or Local government structures, public sector governance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Professional qualification (e.g., CA / ACCA / CPA / CISA / CIA or other) and/or relevant postgraduate degree.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
- Must be Australian Permanent Resident and will reside in Sydney.
