The Role:

This is a genuine opportunity to re-shape the strategy of the Line 1 Risk Partnership model for a Financial Service institution. This is a senior leadership role that will inherent a small team, and requires a capable risk professional to operate at both a strategic and tactical level. 

Broad responsibilities include:
  • Provide direction and oversight to the Risk Management Framework in the first line of defence, to ensure best practice.
  • Be a true partner to the business divisions, identify their risks and the control measures required by each.
  • Introduce and design the testing cycles for controls for each of the business divisions.
  • Establish a clear rhythm of engagement with the business, including a strong alignment and delegation between the Line 1 and Line 2 risk functions.
  • Support the centralisation of the first line risk function and lead the transformation when required.
  • Provide risk advance to the executive leadership team and relevant committees. 
  • Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to the Line 1 risk team.

Key attributes: 
  • Extensive experience in developing strong risk management frameworks and strategies whilst creating and maintaining strong partnerships and engagement with executives and senior management to drive results throughout the business.
  • Well-developed understanding of business risk, mitigation, and assurance strategies.
  • Experienced in constructively challenging business stakeholders and calling out 'blind spots' in controls in a respectful manner.
  • A strong leader with courageous authenticity, who operates with resilience and integrity.
  • Comfortable managing conflicts and challenges as they arise, whilst building out the business partnership model.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, with equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through extensive practical experience.
  • Financial Services experience and knowledge are highly advantageous.
