The Role 

This role plays a leadership role in driving, implementing and managing risk management and monitoring obligations in the division, supporting consistent implementation, and embedding of risk management frameworks, policies and controls. This role is also responsible for partnering with key stakeholders on all matters risk and control, developing pragmatic solutions to risk and control problems through to end to end implementation.
You will:
  • As part of a team of risk professionals contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group.
  • Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, assessment, and actioning of risk and controls issues to drive a strong risk and controls culture that helps achieve business objectives.
  • Support the proactive and effective monitoring, management and reporting of current and emerging risks and facilitate a strong risk culture, risk awareness and ownership of risk throughout the business.
  • Provide support to the business in developing their risk profile, including defining and operationalising relevant RAS metrics, in line with risk appetite.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and enable more efficient and effective risk practices in the business.
  • Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of incidents.
  • Provide input to regulatory requests and remediation, and support the delivery of remediation programs.
  • Coach and support the business to build greater risk awareness and capabilities.

Skill Requirements:
  • 5 - 10 years experience as a risk management professional with strong banking/ financial services / risk assessment experience, including a material risk policy component related to the relevant risk class.
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing and negotiating with senior business leadership teams on strategic thinking and prioritisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving quality assurance outcome.
  • Ability to achieve objectives in a changing environment
  • Proactive, resillient and outcomes focussed
  • Any knowledge of General Insurance and Lenders Mortgage Insurance is advantaged
