The Role & The Organisation: 

This role sits within the Credit Risk Centre of Excellence at a Big4 Australian Bank, which is responsible for credit approval, portfolio management and credit policy along with relevant controls and process, systems and data across all of the Bank's credit portfolios. It is a 2nd line independent control function responsible for overseeing the Bank's credit risk lifecycle (origination, evaluation, approval, monitoring and problem loan management) including compliance with the Credit Risk Management Framework and Credit-related Prudential Standards.

We are looking for a Credit Subject Matter Expert to significantly contribute in a remediation project within the portfolio which will have tight regulatory deliverables and timelines. The project has a number of remediation streams covering the following APRA prudential standards:
  • APS 220: Credit Risk Management.
  • APS 221: Large Exposures.
  • APS 112: Capital Adequacy – Standardised approach to credit risk.
  • APS 113: Capital Adequacy – Internal ratings-based approach to credit.
  • APS 180: Capital Adequacy – Counterparty credit risk.
  • APS 120: Securitisation.
  • CPS 226: Margining & risk mitigation for non-centrally cleared derivatives.
  • CPS 220: Risk management.
  • Basel III driven regulatory change.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support risk management, monitoring and prudential compliance including the implementation of and adherence to the Bank's risk management framework, policies and controls.
  • Manage and drive activities in relation to the remediation required to uplift our Prudential Standard obligations, Credit frameworks and policies, and risk controls.
  • Contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the credit frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Bank.
  • Support management in the pro-active consideration of the policy, risk and control implications of key projects and change management initiatives to drive the timely and cost-effective incorporation of future controls.
  • Support / execute the development, delivery and implementation of key project deliverables in relation to prudential standard obligations, credit policy and controls.
  • Attend Project Working Group meetings and be key the conduit back to the business (Line 1) and project to enable decision making within the project.
  • Effectively manage the governance change frameworks.

Skill Requirements:
  • 5+ years of credit policy, credit risk, regulatory or compliance experience.
  • Well versed with the APRA prudential standards which are Credit related.
  • Capable of working agile and excel in a high achievement orientated environment with a strong focus on being a change facilitator.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills - can engage, inform, influence and negotiate with stakeholders, particularly key business and credit stakeholders to ensure business and policy objectives are met within risk appetite.
