I am recruiting a strategy manager that will work in a triangle with both the Executive Manager for Operational Risk and the Head of Planning & Performance. The role will be key in helping to challenge how Operational Risk is handled within this business and help transform the area. You will have a direct line into many of the EGM's in  the business and you will be heavily involved in the monthly Executive Risk Committee - writing the Executive paper, running the meeting, taking minutes, highlighting issues and inviting key speakers into the conversation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead, build and co-ordinate strategy, planning & performance activities - eg Op Risk Leadership team planning days, workshops and activities relating to risk maturity and performance uplift
  • Drive development and maintenance of annual performance framework
  • Ensure the op risk function integrates the new risk management system
  • Manage and administer all risk forums including the monthly Executive risk committee - writing the executive paper, taking minutes, agendas - essentially doing everything that makes the meeting run smoothly
  • Enhance Governance and ways of working - engage with leadership team to drive performance conversations
  • Manage 1 headcount - support that person in creating new ways of working toolkits and and new processes and systems to chart how effective new initiatives relating to operational risk are

Role Requirements

  • You need to come from an Insurance background and understand the Insurance industry
  • Ideally you will have some kind of Operational Risk background but it is not a must
  • 5 years experience working in strategy or business planning within a large corporation
  • Intimate understanding of strategy & planning frameworks
  • Intimate understanding of communication frameworks
  • Highly proficient in executive level writing
  • Strong ability to perform and engage with executive stakeholders
  • You need to have a strategic, growth and possibility orientated mindset
  • You need to have the interpersonal skills to call out deficiencies when you see them , without having to offer solutions
