Senior Python Developer - Automation | Senior Python Developer (Infrastructure)
Network & Infrastructure Focus

Salary: Up to $165,000 + super + bonus
Location: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days WFH
(1 day in Kogarah on Wednesdays, with the second in either Parramatta or Sydney CBD)
About the Role:

Join one of Australia’s leading financial institutions as a Senior Python Developer (Automation). This is a coding-heavy role (70–80% Python) where you’ll build automation frameworks that integrate systems, interact with APIs, and transform data.
Your work will then be deployed via Ansible (AAP/AWX), supporting major projects such as the F5 refresh and migration from open-source Ansible to enterprise AAP. If you’re a Python developer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and building automation from scratch, this role offers the perfect environment to excel.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing Python applications and scripts for automation (beyond basic scripting).
  • Building automation that interacts with APIs to integrate systems and transform data.
  • Designing and implementing new automation frameworks (not just maintaining existing ones).
  • Deploying automation using Ansible — including writing playbooks and developing custom modules/plugins from scratch in Python.
  • Working with databases (MongoDB preferred, SQL/Postgres acceptable) to query and manage data as part of automation workflows.
  • Collaborating closely with network engineers, platform teams, and the Rapid Response Team (RRT).
What we’re looking for
  • 3–5 years of Python development experience — strong software development skills (not just scripting).
  • Experience building automation that integrates with REST APIs.
  • Hands-on with databases (MongoDB ideal, but other databases acceptable).
  • Strong experience with Ansible — must be able to develop custom modules and plugins from scratch.
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bamboo).
  • Exposure to Terraform or Kubernetes/OpenShift is nice-to-have, but not essential.
  • A proactive, builder mindset — someone who develops automation frameworks, not just consumes them.
Why apply?
  • Be part of a Tier-1 technology team driving automation at scale.
  • Work on high-impact projects (F5 refresh + Security Migration to AAP).
  • Collaborate with forward-thinking engineers who value innovation.
  • Flexible hybrid working, with 1 day per week onsite in Kogarah.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must hold Australian PR or Citizenship.
