Network Automation Engineer –
6 month Contract (High possibility of extension/ conversion to perm)

We are looking for a Network Automation Engineer to join a leading financial services organisation on a max-term contract. This role is part of the Technology division, working within SNS to drive automation across standardised, repeatable Catalogue Services.

This is not a traditional network engineering or DevOps role – the emphasis is on development and automation (85%) with only light networking knowledge required (15%). You’ll work with an established automation framework, building reusable workflows that deliver speed, efficiency, and zero-touch automation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate catalogue services including:
    • DNS (internal & external)
    • Firewall services (physical & virtual)
    • F5 Load Balancer
    • Certificate issuance & renewal
  • Reuse and extend the existing automation framework across other service areas.
  • Integrate automation with APIs, ServiceNow, and backend systems.
  • Provide documentation and contribute to structured, vendor-supported automation practices.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Hands-on Ansible experience (preferably Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform).
  • Exposure to MongoDB (highly regarded).
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions (Jenkins background welcome).
  • Ability to build automation by stitching Ansible modules together.
  • Basic networking knowledge: DNS operations, firewall policies, load balancing (F5).
What We’re Looking For

We’re after a developer with strong skills in Python, Ansible, and MongoDB, focused on building clean, reusable automation for catalogue services. You should have experience automating repeatable infrastructure services (not just DevOps or platform automation) and be able to translate networking workflows into end-to-end automation.

You’ll need to be:
  • Catalogue-focused – experienced in repeatable service automation.
  • Analytical – designing solutions that meet SLAs/KPIs and integrate with APIs and enterprise platforms.
  • Collaborative – confident working across hybrid and virtual teams with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proactive & self-directed – owning deliverables and driving continuous improvement.
  • Clear communicator – able to explain technical processes to varied audiences.

Contract Details
  • 6 month Contract (High possibility of extension/ convert to perm)
  • Hybrid working: 2 days in office (1 day fixed in Kogarah, 1 day flexible between Sydney CBD, Parramatta or Kogarah) + 3 days WFH
