Senior Manager – Financial Crime Advisory
$1000 plus Super per day - 12 Month Contract
Sydney-Based Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading financial institution for a Senior Manager – Financial Crime Advisory to support a strategically critical portfolio of work across their organisation.
This 12-month contract engagement offers a highly attractive daily rate and the opportunity to play a lead advisory role within a well-established financial crime function, focusing on regulatory obligations and control uplift – not transaction monitoring or operational onboarding.
Please note: This is not an operations role. Candidates with experience limited to AML/CTF transaction monitoring, KYC processing, or customer onboarding (including ODD/EDD) will not be considered. This role requires deep technical knowledge of financial crime regulatory obligations (including AML/CTF, KYC, FATCA/CRS) and proven experience in providing advisory input within a complex financial services environment.

About the Role

Sitting within the first line of defence, this role acts as a key interface between Financial Crime Advisory and a range of transformation teams. You’ll lead advisory input on programs of work aligned with the financial crime roadmap, guiding the design and implementation of initiatives that meet both regulatory requirements and business needs.
This role is accountable for ensuring the right financial crime outcomes are developed—while others build the solutions, you ensure the “what” is accurate, risk-aligned, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert financial crime advisory support on transformation initiatives across the consumer banking portfolio.
  • Lead the prioritisation and oversight of financial crime initiatives, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
  • Translate business-as-usual issues and regulatory changes into structured, deliverable programs of work.
  • Represent the Financial Crime team in key project planning forums, including PI planning, retrospectives, and solution reviews.
  • Review and advise on the impact of policy or regulatory changes on existing and upcoming projects.
You Will Bring
  • 12+ years' experience in financial services, including at least 5 years in financial crime advisory roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of AML/CTF, KYC, FATCA, CRS and other financial crime regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on financial crime risk in large, complex organisations.
  • Proven ability to navigate matrix structures and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, law, or technology. Product Owner and Agile certifications (e.g., CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PM/PO) are an advantage.
What’s on Offer
  • 12-month contract with real impact across a high-profile portfolio.
  • Highly competitive daily rate.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals in an environment that values expertise, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Sydney CBD location with flexible work arrangements.
