The Organisation and the Team:

This role contributes and the Business Banking Division’s risk controls standardisation, harmonisation and efficiency to assist the divisional risk profile. This newly formed team is responsible for all risk and control matters within the Business (Line 1), and supporting implementation of solutions to risk and control problems.

It is an expectation of this role to support a strong risk culture that embodies our ethics and integrity, balancing commercial and customer needs.


The Role Responsibilities:
  • As part of a team of risk professionals, contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group.
  • Contribute to the identification of risk in the division by identifying drivers and root causes, as well as supporting plans to address.
  • Assist with mapping and documentation of existing controls and standards.
  • Provide SME input to matters of Conduct Risk and Risk in Change.
  • Support the business with Group standards and developing consistent and complementary control environment for priority risk classes.
  • Assist with identification of common controls across line of business teams that can be standardised /centralised .
  • Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, assessment, and actioning of risk issues to drive a strong risk culture that helps achieve business objectives.
  • Provide insights and reporting for risk committees and board risk committees.
  • Coach and support the business to build greater risk awareness and capability.
  • Assist with the oversight of division-wide control testing activity, results and actions / impact, and identify opportunities for enhancement/streamlining. Ensure control monitoring is in line with Group target state guidance.

The Skill Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of operational risk / compliance advisory experience Risk Management, Legal or Compliance experience, ideally gained in Financial Services.
  • Demonstrable experience of translating the complex into the simple and communicating with passion.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Relevant industry qualifications (risk, compliance or business related).
  • Banking product knowledge is advantageous: deposits, credit cards, commercial lending, FX, payments, trade financing etc.
