Our client a leading NSW Government Department are looking for a Senior Project Officer to join their team until the end of June with high potential for extension.
 
The primary purpose of the role is to provide business operational support to the team ,including day-to-day coordination and oversight of multiple reports and dashboards, as well as to support development and implementation of business improvement initiatives to facilitate the efficient and effective operation of the cluster.

Key accountabilities
  • Build reports, dashboards and input sheets for SME's and senior executives using SmartSheet and Power BI.
  • Provide support to program and project managers across the cluster, and assist in promoting the use and benefits of program and project management methods and standards
  • Undertake detailed analysis to support decision making and provide value-add support to portfolio and business optimisation, including monitoring and evaluation of performance metrics, portfolios, programs and projects to ensure accessibility of quality information.
  • Manage and coordinate the workflow of activities and provide administration support to the Director, such as preparing various presentations, briefing papers, reports, responses to information requests and diary management.
  • Proactively develop and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders

Key challenges
  • Delivering a range of program and project management support services, given tight deadlines, limited resources, minimal direction, and the need to manage competing priorities.
  • Presenting information, findings and recommendations in a manner that achieves a sense of surety and confidence amongst stakeholders.
  • Preparing and distributing information and/or reports that are essential for decision making within tight timeframes and keeping abreast of current and emerging best practice, government policy and requirements.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills with a clear business focus
  • Sound systems, database and computing skills including use of spreadsheets, graphing, visualization tools and business intelligence reporting

Essential requirements
  • Advanced understanding of Smartsheet and Power BI
  • A degree in business, project management
