Competitive Salary & Benefits Package
Sydney CBD

Our client is a prominent and long-established Australian financial services organisation with a significant footprint across superannuation, wealth management, investment platforms and managed investment products. As part of the continued evolution of its Legal & Governance function, we are seeking an accomplished Senior Legal Counsel to support its expanding investment and superannuation platforms business.
This opportunity will appeal to a highly experienced financial services lawyer with deep expertise in superannuation, investment platforms, wrap/IDPS structures and managed investment schemes who is ready to influence major platform initiatives and operate at senior levels of the organisation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal and regulatory advice across the full lifecycle of the organisation’s superannuation and non-super investment platforms. Your contribution will shape product development, platform enhancements, governance, regulatory compliance, incident management and overall customer outcomes.

You will:

  • Advise on the design, operation and enhancement of wrap platforms, IDPS/IDPS-like products and superannuation platforms
  • Support investment menu governance across managed portfolios, managed investment schemes, direct equities and other asset classes
  • Review PDSs, IDPS Guides, TMDS, adviser and client communications, and marketing collateral
  • Provide regulatory advice across superannuation law, managed investment schemes, custody, distribution, insurance in super and DDO obligations
  • Partner with business leaders on platform systems development, operational matters and transformation initiatives
  • Advise on errors, incidents, regulatory notifications, remediation and engagement with regulators
  • Manage service provider arrangements involving investment managers, custodians, insurers and advice licensees
  • Instruct and oversee external counsel as required
You will collaborate with senior stakeholders across wealth, investments, product, distribution, governance, trustee, compliance and risk functions, as well as external advisers, service providers and regulatory bodies.

About You:

  • 15+ years’ post-admission experience, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house within financial services
  • Deep technical expertise in superannuation law, platforms, IDPS structures, managed investment schemes and financial services regulation
  • Strong experience advising on platform product governance, disclosure, distribution and regulatory engagement
  • Excellent judgement, problem-solving ability and sophisticated stakeholder management skills
  • The capability to work autonomously in a complex environment and deliver practical, commercially aligned legal advice
Why This Role?
  • High-impact, complex work within one of Australia’s significant platform businesses
  • Exposure to senior executives and licensed entities across wealth, investments and superannuation
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture that values flexibility, professional growth and meaningful contribution
  • An opportunity to influence products that support the long-term financial wellbeing of millions of Australians
