I am recruiting two senior compliance managers, on a permanent basis,  to join an international insurance business in Sydney.

The business is going through a multi-year modernisation process of its systems and processes. These roles will be responsible for engaging project streams early on, analysing their current approach, researching what they need to be doing from a compliance obligations stand point then provide that advice to the teams so they can build that into the project.

You will need to have excellent stakeholder management skills in addition to your compliance expertise. You need to proactively engage these teams, set the agenda, build an understanding of their current compliance approach then feedback vital information of where they can improve. You need to be brave enough / strong enough to lead these interactions and push back on the teams if they are not being co-operative.

You will have the full backing of a wider compliance team that is highly experienced, collaborative and supportive and have the ability to lean on/ask questions of people who have previously been insurance specialists lawyers and worked across the biggest insurers in the country.The individuals who will be successful in these roles will combine a strong compliance advisory background (with proven experience in frameworks/obligations) and first class stakeholder influencing and communication skills.

Experience Required

  • 8 + years compliance experience, specifically around compliance frameworks/compliance obligations.
  • General Insurance Background is ideal, however Life Insurance or Banking could also work - stakeholder engagement skills and compliance knowledge is more important than product knowledge.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience working with project teams would be advantageous
  • Experience in helping to uplift/modernise processes and systems would be advantageous
