Rate: Up to $1400/day + super (depending on skills & niche experience)
Hybrid Working | Major Transformation Program | Multiple Vacancies


A large enterprise organisation is expanding its Mainframe team and has multiple long-term contract opportunities across IMS Database, IMS System Programming, and Mainframe Automation.

These roles support a major multi-year transformation program and require strong mainframe experience, excellent troubleshooting capability, and the ability to work in complex, high-availability environments.

Available Roles

1. IMS Database Analyst Hands-on database operations and support, including:
  • Performance tuning, capacity planning, IMS monitoring
  • HALDB, cloning, schema changes
  • Backup & recovery, DR testing
  • Production incident/problem/change management

2. IMS System Programmer Systems-level engineering and platform management:
  • IMS subsystem design, upgrades, patching
  • IMS parameters, IMS exits, integration with z/OS
  • DR strategy and execution
  • Performance tuning and operational automation

3. Mainframe Automation Specialist Automation engineering across mainframe operations:
  • MVS, CA SOLVE, SOLVE NetMaster, SSI
  • IBM System Automation
  • Event automation, monitoring, JCL scripting
  • Improving reliability, stability and reducing manual tasks

What You’ll Do
  • Support, optimise, and enhance a large enterprise IMS and mainframe environment
  • Drive performance tuning, monitoring, and problem resolution for business-critical systems
  • Deliver complex changes, upgrades, and production support
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations
  • Contribute to automation uplift, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and vendor teams
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years’ experience in Mainframe / z/OS environments
  • Strong IMS Database or IMS Systems or Mainframe Automation skills (depending on the role)
  • Experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high-availability environments
  • Background supporting critical production systems
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience across incident, change, and problem management
  • Flexibility for on-call and out-of-hours support when required
Desirable:
  • BMC IMS tools experience
  • JCL scripting
  • Disaster Recovery experience
  • Exposure to large-scale transformation or upgrade programs
