This is an opportunity to join Australia' leading Insurer as they completely transform Risk management within the company. The position sits within Group Risk and helps the organisation make sense of the vast amounts of data that they gather specifically around uplifting the Line 1 Risk capabilities across the business. You will report on this data but more important will be your curiosity and "sense making" abilities - how can we gain actionable goals to enable better business decision making?
You will be working with a wide variety of senior stakeholders across the business, SMEs and Data experts to develop these key insights. It is a brand new team (less than 6 months old) that has a lot of impact and sway with the senior executives.

A risk background would be ideal but more important is your technical ability and "sense making" or curiosity around data - figuring out those trends and how they cab improve! Even if you have not worked within Risk before that mindset is the most key element of the job.
Is this you?

  • 5+ years’ experience using analytical skills to provide business insights and actionable recommendations

  • 5+ years’ demonstration of strong business acumen in a corporate culture

  • 2+ years’ working in risk management capacity within a large corporation (helpful but not mandatory)

  • Highly developed report writing skills, including Executive and Board level papers

  • Advanced analytical tradecraft

  • Highly developed ability to exploit numerical data for insights, underpinned by strong understanding of business / statistical modelling

  • Highly developed understanding of business drivers and risk indicators

  • Ability to cope with pressure and prioritise workload to meet timeframes

  • Very strong ability to develop relationships, work effectively with others, and consider needs and potential contributions of others

  • Ability to lead teams of people through significant change over periods of time Able to foster environments where accountable and respectful teams thrive and deliver outstanding results

  • Ability to work autonomously as a leader within a small team framework

  • Intimate knowledge of the Australian general insurance industry (Helpful, not mandatory)

Technical Skills

  • Tertiary qualification/s in Business, Economics, Intelligence, Statistics / Analytics, Finance or related field Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills

  • Reporting & Analysis technical skills including reporting & analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, Cognos, SAS
