We are seeking an experienced Development Assessment Engineering Officer to join a leading Sydney Council on a 3-month initial contract. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key infrastructure and development projects, working in a supportive and fast-paced team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess development application referrals relating to drainage, flooding and stormwater.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Drainage Development Assessment team.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding development applications.
  • Maintain accurate records in TechnologyOne, CM9 and GIS systems.
  • Action enquiries, correspondence and tasks within required timeframes.
  • Contribute to council engineering specifications and processes relating to development assessment.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Previous experience assessing development applications in a council/local government environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to negotiate outcomes effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and corporate databases (TechnologyOne, CM9, GIS).
  • Excellent time management, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced team environment.
Desirable:
  • Experience with the NSW Planning Portal.
  • Knowledge of Development Control Plans and the Local Government Act.
