Role scope: The Senior Treasury Accounting Manager will lead and manage the treasury accounting function and is responsible for managing the Group’s Hedge Accounting processes together with administration and accounting for the Group’s Securitisation programs. This role is also responsible for driving strategic transformation initiatives within the treasury function, aligning operations with the Group’s long-term goals.

You will be responsible for ensuring that derivative transactions are accounted for in the optimal way under Australian Accounting standards. Management of Securitised Trusts and Covered Bond programs including distribution payments to the Trusts, Balance Sheet reconciliations, monthly financial statements and annual statutory reporting.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage the treasury accounting function, overseeing day-to-day operations including administration of Securitised Trusts.
  • Develop and maintain robust accounting policies and procedures for treasury accounting, ensuring alignment with AUSIFRS.
  • Complete monthly hedge accounting activity as well as maintaining hedge relationships, hedge effectiveness calculations and accounting entries.
  • Retrospective and prospective testing of hedge accounting relationships to ensure compliance with IFRS9/AASB9.
  • Delivery of annual statutory reporting for the Securitised Trusts.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Group statutory reporting.
  • Lead the external audit engagements in relation to Hedge Accounting and Securitisation Accounting.
  • Lead transformation initiatives within the treasury and accounting functions to drive process improvements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including financial accounting, regulatory reporting, treasury, tax, and external auditors.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of treasury accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven environment.

Key experiences and competencies required:
  • CA/CPA qualified with 5+ years post qualification experience.
  • Banking / Financial Services expertise preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in Treasury Accounting.
  • Experience in accounting for complex financial instruments, specifically derivatives and related products.
  • Proven experience in applying accounting standards (particularly AASB9) to solve real problems in an advisory, commercial or financial reporting capacity.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities across all levels.
  • Proven experience leading strategic transformation initiatives within the finance or treasury functions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership.
