I am recruiting a Senior Risk Manager to join the line 1 risk team supporting the lending value chain for a big 4 bank in Sydney.

You will partner with stakeholders on all matters relating to risk and controls along the institutional banking lending value chain.  You will identify risk and control gaps and partner with the business to fix them.

Permanent position, reporting into Executive Manager level and being responsible for 1 direct report.

Role Responsibilities
  • Contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group in the Lending Value Chain.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand the Lending VC risk profile and adopt VCM and Risk Management Framework policies and standards.
  • Ensure a strong VC risk management culture is embedded where risk is considered in business decisions to achieve both commercial and customer outcomes.
  • Ensure the impact of process change on risks, compliance obligations and controls is considered, and where relevant, updated with the VC risk profile, and replicated within the Group process modelling tool.
  • Provide specialist advice to the CIB Line of Business regarding the management of risks, compliance obligations, and controls for both ‘run’ (business-as-usual) and ‘change’ (project) initiatives with VCM.
  • Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, assessment, and actioning of risk and controls issues to drive a strong risk and controls culture that helps achieve VCM outcomes set out in the Group Enterprise Value Chain framework.
  • Support the proactive and effective monitoring, management and reporting of current and emerging risks and facilitate a strong risk culture, risk awareness and ownership of risk throughout the business.
  • Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of incidents, standards are being adhered to across CIB Business with respect to the Core Capabilities across Lending Value Chain in tools such as JUNO.
  • Provide input to regulatory requests and remediation, and support the delivery of remediation programs with respect to VCM.
  • Pro-active drive plans to address any gaps for CIB Business with respect in embedding the Lending Value Chain.
  • Coach and support the business to build greater risk awareness and capability with WIB Lending Value Chain.

Role Requirements
  • 5 + years experience risk management or audit experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Strong workshop facilitation experience.
  • Strong understanding of business drivers (customer, cost, productivity, risk).
