Senior Network Automation Engineer
Salary: Up to $170,000 + super
Location: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days WFH
(1 day in Kogarah on Wednesdays, with the second in either Parramatta or Sydney CBD)

About the Role:
We’re seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering mid to large-scale networking initiatives. This role will be heavily focused on coding, development, and automation — particularly using Python. You’ll be responsible for creating custom scripts and automation playbooks to drive efficiency across network operations and infrastructure.
The position is ideal for someone passionate about software-defined networking and looking to apply strong development skills to solve complex network challenges. You’ll work on automation solutions that support real-time telemetry, status monitoring, and bulk network configuration changes — all while contributing to the evolution of our infrastructure-as-code capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python to streamline network tasks.
  • Design and implement Ansible playbooks/cookbooks and Terraform templates for configuration management and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Support and enhance network automation platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write and optimize queries for network-related databases, including telemetry and status data.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to implement scalable network automation solutions.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a strong emphasis on automation and DevOps practices.
  • Deep hands-on experience in Python (must-have), with proficiency in scripting languages such as YAML, JSON, and REST APIs.
  • Strong familiarity with Ansible (AWX, AAP), Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD methodologies and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Experience with network firewall platforms such as F5 (BIG-IP, VELOS), Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager), and Juniper SRX is advantageous.
  • Exposure to container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) and Linux environments.
  • Understanding of software testing methods and CI/CD build processes, ideally using Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB or other database environments for querying and data management.
This is a great opportunity for a developer-minded network professional ready to push the boundaries of automation and make a meaningful impact on large-scale infrastructure. If you're ready to bring your coding expertise into the heart of network engineering — this is the role for you.
