Our client is a globally recognised US business with a significant local market presence, providing a range of products and services to a local and regional customer base. The business has recently gone through a period of change and transformation to set up their future success and as a result an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Tax Accountant to join the local finance and tax function in Sydney.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Involvement in all areas of tax compliance and accounting including process and systems improvement;
  • Provide tax advice to various business units within the group on client transactions with a focus on direct and indirect tax;
  • Conduct tax research;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key changes to legislation impacting the Group and provide assistance for implementation of legislative changes for compliance purposes;
  • Analyse business needs and provide commercially sound advice;
  • Point of contact for various local and overseas stakeholders on Australian tax matters;
  • Provide assistance on ad hoc projects (including due diligence on potential acquisitions)

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
  • Experienced tax accountant/consultant with either CA/CPA or professional tax qualifications;
  • Current/previous experience gained in either an in-house corporate tax team or a large tax consulting firm (Big 4 or large 2nd tier firms);
  • Strong underdstanding of Australian tax legislation;
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
