Quality Engineering Lead – Automation (Hands-On)

We’re looking for a hands-on Quality Engineering Lead (Automation) to step into a technical leadership role driving modern test automation solutions across a complex, enterprise environment.
This is a 100% automation-focused role — ideal for someone who still loves being on the tools while also providing technical guidance, setting standards, and uplifting quality practices across engineering teams.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead and drive automation-first quality engineering solutions across multiple initiatives
  • Act as a technical lead, setting direction, standards, and best practice for test automation
  • Design, build, and maintain robust automated test frameworks (hands-on)
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and testers
  • Partner closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to embed quality early
  • Own test strategy, automation coverage, and quality outcomes across delivery streams
  • Ensure automation is integrated into CI/CD pipelines and release processes
  • Champion continuous improvement in tooling, frameworks, and ways of working
Tech stack / skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java or JavaScript
  • Playwright (or similar modern automation framework) – hands-on
  • End-to-end web automation testing
  • CI/CD integration experience (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and quality frameworks

  • Strong communicator who can influence across engineering and delivery teams
