Our client a Leading NSW Government Department are looking for a Business Analyst- Investment to join their team until the end of June 2021. There may be potential for the role to extend past this point.

The Business Analyst - Investments undertakes analysis of current funds range, business processes and information capture and sharing needs relating to investment fund custodian transition, in particular investment operations, unit registry, fund reporting, compliance, tax, system enhancements, etc. to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and improved outcomes.

Key accountabilities;

Tax and distribution
  • Reviewing and updating BRD for unrealised CGT and distribution calculation
  • Engaging internal stakeholder to finalise comments and review
  • Provide final BRD to custodian for report development
  • Review test report and provide feedback to custodian

Capital gain tax
  • Reviewing capital gain tax impact on a monthly basis and planning the course of action for rationalisation.
  • Coordinating with external registry, technology for requirements for capital gain calculation
  • Preparing the analysis of capital gain tax impact
  • Working with senior manager of taxation to confirm the analysis
  • Reviewing unit holder tax position after rationalisation

Fund rationalisation
  • Supporting part of business case and project plan for fund rationalisation
  • Organise project plan sign off from internal stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of target operating model for liquidity management function
  • Review audit and tax reporting for process inefficiencies as part of rationalisation
  • Provide any support required for a risk questionnaire
  • Support the Customer segmentation analysis
  • Incorporating feedback from FPU and Trustee Services on analysis

Skills and experience
  • In order to be eligible for this role you will have:
  • Experience in a similar role in the Australian Public Sector is highly desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in the related field
  • High accuracy level and attention to detail
  • The ability to assist varying levels of staff and clients
